BELLA HARVEY
Fine Botanical Art
Bella Harvey is a fine botanical artist and has lived and painted flora and fauna in Italy and France, as well as her native England.
She has studied many of the plants she has grown (her other passion being gardening) drawing and painting from an early age, and is self taught.
Bella has always worked in watercolour, developing and refining a technique which includes observational drawing, use of colour and where needed design which could either be a border, simple or highly intricate. In her "fantasy images" the paintings have an abundance of geometric references and bold use of counterbalanced imagery whithin a framework not dissimilar to Islamic Art or the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Whether she is producing a simple illustrative image or a composition of birds, plants or fish she uses the self same skills and processes that are the hallmark of her work.
Bella currently lives in France, she has held exhibitions in England, France and USA.
Bella Harvey est une artiste britannique contemporaine, elle peint la faune et la flore et a vécu en Italie et en France, ainsi que dans son pays natal, l'Angleterre.
Très jeune, elle tisse un lien fort avec la nature, celle ci devient rapidement le sujet principal de son travail et sa plus grande passion et inspiration. Autodidacte, chaque tableau est issu d'une étude qu'elle réalise à partir de ses propres plantes qu'elle cultive dans son jardin, sa deuxième passion étant le jardinage.
Bella a toujours travaillé à l'aquarelle, elle développe et affine une technique qui dans un premier temps commence par un travail d'observation, ensuite elle se concentre sur l'utilisation de la couleur et peut terminer avec un motif florale qui sert souvent de cadre au travail initial, celui ci pouvant être simple ou très complexe.
Ses peintures ont une abondance de références aux mouvements artistiques britanniques du XIXè siècle, tel que « Arts and Crafts » et les Préraphaélites, de part l'harmonie géométrique et l'équilibre qui se dégage dans chaque l'image mais aussi grâce à ses sujets de prédilection, tel que la faune et la flore
(oiseaux, poissons et plantes).
Bella vit actuellement en Dordogne, à Belvès, elle a déjà exposé en Angleterre, en France et aux Etats-Unis.
